'Fit and raring to go!' - Every word Cardiff City signing Jonny Williams just said on his aims, familiar faces and how Mick McCarthy got the best out of him

Cardiff City secured the signature of Wales international Jonny Williams from Charlton Athletic on deadline day.

It was the Bluebirds' only bit of business on the final day of the window as Mick McCarthy sought to bolster the attacking end of the pitch as we enter the final 20 games of the season.

Williams is adored by many this side of the border for his exploits with the national team and for the glimpses he has shown for Crystal Palace, Ipswich and Charlton in recent years.

Here, he gives us a little insight into why he moved to the Welsh capital and what he hopes to achieve over the coming months.

Q. Tell us why this was the move for you?

Jonny Williams: "I'm delighted. I am really looking forward to working with the gaffer and TC (Terry Connor), I've had the pleasure of working with them before.

"I'm just delighted to be here and get it done. Can't wait to get going now."

Q. Tell us why you enjoyed working with them and how they got the best out of you?

JW: "They are great. I probably played the best football of my career under them at Ipswich.

"They give the freedom to express myself and work hard. I am just really looking forward to working with them again and hopefully getting back to top form and climb up the table."

Q. This is a place you know well and you know a lot of the boys as well...

JW: "Yeah, I know a few of the boys from Wales and playing against them over my career.

"I look forward to linking up with them in a Cardiff shirt and a Wales shirt. There are a lot of games coming up and my aim is to try and get the team up the table.

"I will do that by playing as many games as I can, working hard and we will see come the end of the season where we are."

Q. Severnside derby coming up, a big first game to be involved in...

JW: "Yeah! I've seen those games on the TV before. What they mean, what they're about.

"So it's a great start. I am fit and raring to go so I can't wait to get going in that game and get the win."

Q. Into training on Tuesday and straight into it. Bet you're looking forward to it?

JW: "Yeah, I can't wait, really looking forward to it.

"It's a great opportunity to myself and my career. I'm 27 now, so I am looking to enjoy myself here and do my best. Hopefully score some goals and (provide) assists.

"The main aim is to win games. That's what I've come here to do, to try and win as many games as I can in a Cardiff shirt.

"I can't wait to get started."
