A fisherman rescued after a boat sunk off the coast of Co Wexford has died.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of a trawler that got into difficulty near Hook Head at around 10.30pm last night.
One man, who was in his 60s, was brought to safety by the Rescue 117 helicopter, but sadly later died in hospital.
However a second man who was on the boat is still missing and a search is currently underway.
A garda spokeswoman said: "Last night Gardaí and the Coastguard were alerted to reports that a trawler had gone missing off the coast of Hook Head area with two men on board.
"Searches were carried out by the RNLI and R117 Helicopter.
"One male in his 60s was recovered from the water and taken to University Hospital Waterford where he has since passed away.
"Searches continue for the second man."
An RNLI spokesman confirmed that the rescue helicopter and two lifeboat crews were rushed to the scene late last night.
The helicopter assisted in the recovery of the first man, but a search for the second continues into this morning.
