A fisherman has tragically died after getting into trouble in water while working today.
The tragic incident occurred at around 1.30pm this afternoon.
Gardai confirmed that they were contacted by the Coast Guard who informed them a fisherman had been taken to hospital after getting into trouble in the water.
He tragically passed away soon after.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardai received reports from the Coast Guard that a male fisherman, aged in his late 30s, had been taken to University Hospital Galway after getting into difficulty while working at sea at approximately 1:30pm on 02/11/2020.
"The man has since passed away. The HSA has been notified.
"Investigations are continuing."
