A fish and chip shop in Nottinghamshire has revealed it will be closed "for the following week" after a fire in its kitchen on Friday.

Bingham Fish and Chips, on Market Street, revealed the news in a post on Facebook, stating that the incident happened on Friday evening (February 19).

The chippy says it will be closed "until the damages have been fixed" and apologised for the "inconvenience" to customers.

Bosses at the business also confirmed that nobody was hurt in the incident.

In the social media post, the company said: "Due to a fire in our kitchen last night, we will be closed for the following week until the damages have been fixed.

"Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident.

"Sorry for the inconvenience."

When contacted by Nottinghamshire Live, owners of the business did not wish to provide a further comment on the incident.
