First words from Joel Dixon after Bolton Wanderers confirm goalkeeper's capture

Bolton Wanderers' latest recruit Joel Dixon is excited to reacquaint himself with former manager Ian Evatt after completing his move from Barrow.

The goalkeeper, 27, signs a two-year deal at the University of Bolton Stadium.

He joins Wanderers after five years at Barrow, clocking up 195 appearances and played a pivotal role in their promotion success during the 2019/20 campaign, orchestrated by current Bolton boss Evatt.

Dixon played in every one of Barrow's League Two fixtures last season as the Bluebirds escaped relegation but the goalkeeper opted to reject their offer of a new deal in favour of joining Bolton's League One push.

On the move, Dixon told the club website: “It’s a new chapter in my career and I’m looking forward to starting. The size and stature of the club and where it wants to get back to is perfect for me.

“I have worked with the gaffer before at Barrow and I cannot wait to get started here.”

Manager Ian Evatt added: “Joel is a player who has played a lot for me and is someone I know and trust. He will provide good competition in the goalkeeping department and will never let anybody down.

“He’s a consistent footballer and a consistent character both on and off the pitch.”

Matt Gilks was Bolton's number one last season, who signed a contract extension last month.
