First words as former Arsenal youngster Xavier Amaechi signs for Bolton Wanderers

New Bolton Wanderers signing Xavier Amaechi was impressed by manager Ian Evatt's ambition after joining the Trotters on loan.

The former Arsenal youngster has joined on a six month deal from German 2 Bundesliga side Hamburger SV.

The 20 year-old winger played youth football for the Gunners before joining Hamburg for 2.5million Euros two years ago.

And he is looking forward to getting going at Bolton.

He said: “I’m looking forward to getting started with the boys. Hopefully I can start pre-season well and then look forward to the start of the season.

“I had contact with the gaffer a few weeks before pre-season and he told me that his plans were to have a good season in League One and hopefully get back to the Championship.

“The manager was really positive and ambitious and that came across really well when I spoke to him.

“I want to get in a good rhythm and help the team progress.”

Amaechi has represented England at youth level while he spent time on loan with Karlsruher SC last season, making seven appearances.

Wanderers Manager Evatt said: “We are delighted Xavier has joined us on loan from Hamburg.

“He is a hugely talented young player with bags of pace and quality, and we are extremely excited to have him at the club.”
