First West Yorkshire boss issues statement after Boar Lane bus crash

The head of operations at First West Yorkshire has spoken out after the company's bus hit a pedestrian.

The woman was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries after the collision on Boar Lane, at around 4pm on Tuesday, December 3.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene and the road was closed for several hours. Dozens of bus services were diverted and delayed during the closure.

Will Pearson, head of operations for First West Yorkshire, said: "I can confirm that one of our vehicles on service 28 to Adel was involved in a collision with a pedestrian at the junction of Boar Lane and New Station Street on Tuesday afternoon.

“First West Yorkshire staff attended the scene and provided assistance to emergency services.

“Our thoughts are with the injured pedestrian and their family, and we are also supporting our bus driver, who was understandably shaken by the incident."

He added: “As a result of the incident, bus services were delayed despite the best efforts of our staff and I would like to thank customers for their patience during this time."
