First visit for former Packers DL Mike Daniels will be with Browns

One day after being released by the Green Bay Packers, defensive lineman Mike Daniels is on the road and taking his first team visit as a free agent.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Daniels is in Cleveland to visit with the Browns on Thursday.

All the former Packers connections with the Browns and Cleveland’s desire to stockpile talent along the defensive line made the fit with Daniels an obvious one.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported the Browns were one of the teams that engaged with the Packers on recent trade talks for Daniels, who played seven seasons in Green Bay.

Interest is expected to be strong in Daniels around the NFL. Garafolo reported at least seven teams had contacted Daniels by Wednesday night.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports Daniels is expected to take several visits and isn’t likely to sign with the Browns on Thursday, although that could always change if GM John Dorsey offers a sweet enough package during the visit.

Dorsey, assistant GM Eliot Wolf and vice president of player personnel Alonzo Highsmith were all in Green Bay when the Packers made Daniels a fourth-round pick in 2012.
