First-time buyers could pay as much as €520,000 for houses in one part of Dublin, new report finds

First-time buyers could pay well over €500,000 if they want to live in one particular part of Dublin, a new report has revealed.

The average price of a home in the capital for a first-time buyer is €375,000 according to the Economic and Social Research Institute.

And if you are looking for a property in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, you may have to fork out as much €520,000 - a staggering amount that is 57% higher than in the Fingal area.

First-time buyer couples in Dublin, Wicklow, Meath and Kildare who earn an average income pay around 30% of their wages on their mortgage according to the report.

On the other end of the scale, first-timers can get their hands on the keys of a Longford house for as little as €116,000.

The report also outlined that couples in Cork County had an annual income in 2018 which was almost €10,000 higher than a couple in Cork city.

Also, the annual income of a first-time buyer couple in Galway county is €43,112 compared to almost €60,000 in the city of the Tribesmen.
