First Stand 2026 day 4 recap: Monstrous Gen.G, perfection from JDG

Day 4 of First Stand went back to Group B to decide the second team making the playoffs. The battle was between Korean powerhouse Gen.G and LCS Lock In victors LYON. In the elimination matchup that followed, JDG was playing the hometown heroes LOUD.

Sadly, we witnessed the shortest competitive day at First Stand.

Match 1: Gen.G vs. LYON

There’s a fitting saying: “When there’s delusion, there’s hope.” For the matchup between Gen.G and LYON, very few were delusional enough to believe in the North American team. We witnessed a systemic dismantling of a very solid team on a grandiose level. LYON have proven that they’re no slouches, but Gen.G is simply a better team, and won by minute 25.

Gen.G started the first game just like they intended to continue: in a dominant fashion. Three winning lanes is a paradise of a game state for a jungler, so Canyon had complete control over the objectives, not allowing LYON to get even a single objective.

Game 2 wasn’t that much better, although Inspired and Berserker had moments of individual brilliance. Still, it wasn’t nearly enough, and Gen.G closed the game out in the same 25 minutes.

Just to drive the point home, Gen.G ended game 3 in the very same 25 minutes, with Ruler once more showcasing the perfect Caitlyn gameplay, while Kiin dismantled Dhokla’s Irelia up top.

With this win, Gen.G joins BLG in the playoffs, and will face the winner of the G2 vs. BFX matchup.

Match 2: JDG vs. LOUD

Going from Gen.G’s total domination over LYON, one would not imagine there could be an even more dominant performance in the cards. Yet, somehow, JDG played three games so suffocating that their Brazilian opponents weren’t able to get any objectives, save for one tower in game 1.

Vampire didn’t get Player of the Game for any of the games, but his performance should still be noted, as he didn’t die even once across them all. Who did die plenty was Xiaoxu, but he was clearly limit-testing and having lots of fun, while also being left on somewhat of an island.

Now JDG will have to face LYON for the final playoffs spot, and the winner get matched with BLG.

Today, we will have all our knockout stage participants, as G2 Esports faces BNK FEARX, and JDG goes against LYON.
