Snow resort Yeti, located at the second station of Mt. Fuji, opened for the season on Friday. It is the first outdoor ski resort to open nationwide, and has been so for 22 consecutive years, according to the resort, which is in Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Partly because of high temperatures, the resort started running its artificial snow machines later than a normal year, on Oct. 20, to create the one-kilometer ski slope.

The resort offered free access to costume-clad visitors on Friday. Snowboarders such as those dressed as the main character of the Japanese anime Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) enjoyed a touch of snow.

The resort will be open until March 28 next year.
