First Saints, Chargers quarterback challenge is most elaborate yet

The New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers met for two days of joint practices before their preseason game, but one event held their focus more than anything else that happened on the field: the quarterbacks challenge. Because the Chargers hosted this year’s practice, they were given the nod to design the first gauntlet for passers to go up against.

Taking inspiration from the annual Orange County Fair, Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and his squad (backups Tyrod Taylor, Cardale Jones, and Easton Stick) came up with a series of trick shots ranging from goalpost strikes to skeet-shooting and moving nets. It proved to be quite a challenge for Drew Brees and the Saints passers, which included backup quarterbacks Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill, with right guard Larry Warford helping round out the roster.

You can see how things turned out in the video embedded below, or by following this link:

Brees takes these competitions very seriously, and it’s clear that Rivers and his crew put plenty of thought into the challenging series of throws. Brees and the Saints will have their shot at payback on Friday with their own trick-shot contest.
