First pictures of Manchester United signing Donny van de Beek in training after £40m Ajax transfer

Donny van de Beek began training with his new Manchester United team-mates on Wednesday.

The versatile Dutch midfielder became Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first summer signing when he arrived at Old Trafford from Eredivisie giants Ajax in a £40million deal last week.

However, the 23-year-old was then immediately required for international duty, featuring for the Netherlands in their recent Uefa Nations League double-header.

Van de Beek was a late substitute as Dwight Lodeweges' side beat Poland 1-0 in Amsterdam on Friday, before starting in Monday's narrow home defeat by Italy.

After those matches, Van de Beek was finally able to get to work at Carrington earlier on Wednesday as United continued preparations for their 2020-21 Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on September 19.

Solskjaer's side have been afforded a late start to the new campaign due to their run to the Europa League semi-finals in Germany last month and are reportedly set to face Aston Villa in a friendly contest this weekend, when Van de Beek could make his Red Devils debut.
