First pictures of flats planned for former Swansea Old Boys Club

There are plans to convert an abandoned community building, which has become a drugs and anti-social behaviour hotspot, into a block of flats.

Developers are proposing to transform the former Old Boys Club in Swansea into 23 new modern residential flats.

Lifestyle Dimensions Ltd, which is based in Cardiff, want to redevelop the site to "make the most of the panoramic views overlooking the city".

The 1920s building, which is perched high above Swansea city in Mayhill, originally opened as a successful youth club until its closure in the mid-90s.

Plans to turn the Swansea Council -owned building into a community centre in 2016 came to nothing and it was listed for sale by auction in December 2018 with a guide price of £50,000.

Now, Asbri Planning have carried out a pre-application report on behalf of Lifestyle Dimensions Ltd which proposes a change the use from a community facility to residential dwellings.

The report states: "The vision for the scheme was to redevelop the site to make the most of the panoramic views overlooking the city and to bring the building back into beneficial use with a viable and attractive development.

"The building is now in a poor state of repair, attracting anti-social behaviour and has become an eye-sore in recent times."

The redevelopment will consist of 23 flats spread over 3 split-level storeys with a fourth storey extension to the roof of the existing building.

It is also proposed to provide a new vehicular access, infrastructure and landscaping works to support the project.
