First pictures of Aldi's Russell Sprout Christmas toy 'leaked' online

Yesterday saw the whole of the UK light up - not only because of Bonfire Night, but because Aldi released its long-awaited LeafyBlinders Christmas advert.

The advert showcased the disappearance of last year's festive hero Kevin the Carrot, who came into serious danger in the hands of arch nemesis and Christmas super-villain Russell Sprout.

Since the advert was released, the same question has been on everybody's lips - 'will a Russell Sprout toy be released this year?'

It's looking like the answer is yes, as a photograph of what looks like the official Russell Sprout toy has been doing the rounds on Facebook, and shoppers couldn't be more excited.

Sharing the image on a popular Facebook group, one woman wrote: "Guessing they are being released this year."

People were quick to respond, with many over the moon.

"How cute are these leafy blinders... i need one in my life," said one shopper.

Another added: "Omg I can't wait to get one of these."

"Missed out on the carrot and the parsnip I'm not missing out on an angry sprout" exclaimed a third dedicated Aldi fan.

Speaking to Manchester Evening news, the woman who shared the photograph revealed her husband works for Aldi, and had sent her the photograph from work.

She said: "They haven't given the release date yet but it's normally end of Nov/beginning of December."

Many shoppers already have Kevin the Carrot toys, after they sold out at record speeds when they were released in Aldi stores in 2018.

The release of the plushies had people queueing up outside Aldi stores at the crack of dawn, and people were even selling the £3.99 carrots on eBay for as much as £900 just hours after going on sale.

Manchester Evening News has contacted Aldi to find out if and when the Russell Sprout toys will be on sale. We will, of course, keep you updated when we find out more information.
