First picture of young Scots man who died after being hit by taxi on A75

Police have named the young man who died after being hit by a taxi on a Scots road.

Ryan Allison, 20, was struck by the silver Skoda Superb private hire on the A75 Gretna to Stranraer Road, near to Inch Church, Castle Kennedy at around 8.20pm on Saturday October 30.

Emergency crews raced to the incident but Ryan, from Stranraer, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ryan was on foot when he was hit by the car.

Nobody from the vehicle was injured.

Sergeant Bob McNay, from Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with Mr Allison’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this crash and I would urge anyone who could help but hasn’t yet spoken to us to get in touch.

"We are also keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam footage which captures the vehicle or the pedestrian to get in contact, as they may be able to assist our enquiries.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 3746 of Saturday, October 30.
