First picture of young Greenock dad-of-two Chris Nicol stabbed to death in 'targeted attack'

This is the first picture of young dad-of-two Chris Nicol who was stabbed to death in Greenock in what police are treating as a targeted attack.

Cops launched a yesterday and are hunting a knife thug with missing teeth after the victim, named locally as 27-year-old , was found dead in a house in Greenock on Thursday night.

Pals of the victim told of their shock yesterday as detectives continued to hunt a suspect and appealed for information.

Chris was found with serious stab wounds at a property in the town’s at about 9.15pm and was confirmed dead at the scene.

One pal wrote on of their horror at discovering his body yesterday.

Annmarie Mck wrote on Facebook: “I cant get his body lying there out my mind and having his kids all night. Heartbreaking. Total shock.”

Detectives from ’s Major Investigation Team appealed for members of the public to come forward if they have any information which could help apprehend a suspect, a man thought to be aged between 20 and 30.

He has short, dark hair, rough facial hair and missing teeth. He was wearing a black beanie hat, black jumper and black jeans.

Chief Inspector Martin Fergus said: “We’re appealing for anyone who saw a man fitting this description either before or after the incident to contact us.

“We believe this was a targeted attack and our inquiries are ongoing.”

Christopher Martin Dominick paid tribute to the dad on , saying: “Cannot believe I’m writing this! I was only chatting away to you last night.

“RIP my pal, words can’t describe the pain I’m feeling for your children and family, fly high my boy .”

Aurora Nazzi added: “The soundest Guy. Remember him RIP.”

Briony Carmichael wrote: “Heartbreaking! Rest easy Chris.”
