Following a post-mortem today, her death is now being treated as murder.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the death and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, 4 May.

Officers are still appealing for information, so they can establish exactly what happened to Miss Aitchison.

Detective Inspector Sandy MacKinnon, of Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team, said: "Our thoughts are with Louise's family at this incredibly difficult time and we are keeping them fully updated on the progress of our enquiries.

"As we continue to seek answers for them, I urge anyone who may have information which could be relevant to contact us or Crimestoppers as soon as possible."

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1951 of April 30.
