A woman will stand trial accused of murder later this year after a 24-year-old man was stabbed to death.

Kasey Anderson was knifed in the chest and leg at around 6.30pm on Carr Lane East in Croxteth on March 11 this year. He was rushed to hospital and remained in a critical condition for more than two weeks, but died as a result of his injuries on March 31.

Natalie Bennett, of Carr Lane East, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday, via video link to HMP Styal charged with murdering Mr Anderson. Wearing glasses and a black zip-up top with long brown hair, the 46-year-old was not asked to enter a plea to this count.

But a one-week trial has been scheduled to begin on September 4. Bennett was remanded into custody by the Honorary Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC ahead of a plea hearing on June 9.

A 44-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both from Liverpool, who were previously arrested in connection Mr Anderson's death remain on conditional bail pending further enquiries. His family said in a statement: "We will miss our crazy Kasey - he was a huge part of everyone’s lives.

"Every single person who met him has a story to tell. He always made everyone laugh and left a mark on everyone he met.

"Our hearts will be broken forever. He did not deserve a second of this.

"He will be missed by everyone in the community. The loss of Kasey has brought everyone down to their knees.

"As a family, we would like to thank all the staff at Aintree Hospital who looked after Kasey and ourselves as a family. We are also so grateful to the whole community for the love and support they have given to us as a family."
