This is the young woman who was killed in a suspected hit-and-run in south London.

Pedestrian Celia Ines Betrouni, 24, was struck by a car in Brixton Hill in the early hours of Saturday.

Paramedics battled to save Ms Betrouni, a French national, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services had rushed to the junction with New Park Road at 12.30am. An air ambulance was also scrambled.

On Monday, a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after he handed himself in at a south London police station.

He has been bailed to a date in mid February, Scotland Yard said.

The blue VW Golf believed to have been involved in the collision was found in the Brixton area on Sunday.

Police said Ms Betrouni’s next of kin has been informed. A post-mortem took place on Monday.
