First picture of woman, 21, accused of stabbing Liverpool couple

A 21-year-old has appeared in court accused with attempting to murder a man and woman.

Lauren Walsh was charged after the pair were stabbed in the back and chest yesterday in Old Swan.

Officers were called to Southgate Road at around 3.15pm yesterday following reports of the stabbing.

The ECHO understands the man and woman are a young couple who had lived on the street for a few months and reportedly "kept themselves to themselves".

Walsh, of Packenham Road, West Derby, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court this morning in a grey jumper and joggers with her dark hair pulled back into a ponytail.

She is charged with attempting to murder Kelsey Gielinck and Wesley Pemberton on Wednesday, April 14.

Walsh is also charged with theft of Ms Gielinck's credit card between March 15 and April 14 this year.

Amie Gouldson prosecuted the case on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service while Ian Till defended Walsh.

Walsh spoke to confirm her name, date of birth and address from the dock.

A legal advisor read the charges and explained the case was "so serious" it can only be dealt with at a crown court.

Walsh was not asked to plead to any of the offences today and will instead enter her pleas at Liverpool Crown Court.

District Judge James Clarke adjourned the case until May 13 and remanded Walsh into custody.
