First picture of tragic Scots man who died after being crushed by falling tree

The first picture of a man who was killed by a falling tree in Aberdeenshire has been revealed.

Tragic David Lapage died after his vehicle was struck on the B977 Dyce to Hatton Fintry Road around 5.45pm on Friday, 26 November.

The tragedy happened as extreme weather conditions battered the country during Storm Arwen.

The 35-year-old was driving his Nissan Navara pick-up before the tragic incident.

A police van which had been responding to the tragic incident was also then completely destroyed after an another large tree blew on top of it.

No officers were inside the vehicle at the time.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, his family said: “The family would like to thank all services involved and greatly appreciate all the messages of support.

“They would ask that their privacy is respected at this time.”

Sergeant Craig McNeill of the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Inverurie said: “Our thoughts are very much with David’s family and friends at this time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to an officer can call 101 quoting reference 2999 of 26 November.”
