First picture of tragic Largs roof fall schoolgirl as pals pay tribute to 'life of the party' after death

Tributes have been paid to a tragic Scots schoolgirl who died after falling from a roof above a supermarket in Largs.

Sarah Short, 13, from Fairlie, fell from Tesco Express on Aitken Street just before midnight on Saturday.

A resident who had heard screams in the street had called an ambulance for the young schoolgirl after spotting Sarah.

It is understood a nurse exited a taxi and performed CPR on the teenager alongside an off-duty firefighter until mercy crews arrived.

A friend added: "Just beautiful Gail. Thinking of you all."

Devastated pals of the popular teen have paid tribute to Sarah, who has been described as "caring, kind, funny and always up for anything".

One best friend said on Instagram: "Never in a million years would I have to imagine writing this but sadly Sarah will be missed deeply by all of us.

"She was always the life of the party and never once failed to put a smile on my face.

"It breaks my heart knowing she’s not here anymore.

Sarah was a keen skater and scooter rider.

Her friends held a balloon release in her memory yesterday.

The parent council at Largs Academy, where Sarah was a student, sent out a letter from the school following the tragic news.

It read: "We are really saddened to hear the news of the death of a Largs Academy pupil last night.

"A letter has gone out from the school with a link for help with dealing with bereavement, and there will be a small number of staff and key professionals in the school tomorrow to provide support, you can call the school between 9.15am and 3pm to make an appointment to see someone."

Yesterday, the shaken resident who had called 999 told the Record: "It was awful.

"I heard a thud from outside and then lots of screaming from my window.

"I saw the girl lying on the pavement and shouted out the window that I was phoning an ambulance.

"A nurse even jumped out of a taxi and tried doing CPR while the ambulance was on its way.

Heartbroken pals sobbed outside the Tesco Express as they laid flowers and teddies in memory of the schoolgirl.
