First picture of tragic lad who died in Scots loch as pals pay tribute to 'cracking boy'

Tributes have been paid to a young man who died after a boat overturned on a Scots fishing loch.

The 21-year-old, who has been named locally as William Brown, sadly passed away after plunging into the water at Loch Snipe in Ayrshire on Sunday evening.

Emergency services raced to the scene near Coylton after the alarm was raised at 6.05pm and a large scale search and rescue operation was launched.

Two helicopters, ambulances and a water rescue unit from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service helped with the search.

But the popular 21-year-old, from Ayr, was pulled from the water a short time later.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Heartbroken pals have paid tribute to their friend on social media who they have described as a ‘drum and bass soldier’.

One wrote: “Still Canny get my head around this, lost my best mate last night never in a million years did I expect this to happen so soon, till we meet again brother, love you.”

Police Scotland confirmed the young man’s tragic death on Monday.

A force spokeswoman said: “ A 21 year-old man has died after a boat overturned on Snipe Loch, near Coylton around 6.05pm on Sunday.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
