His immediate family were too upset to speak but one relative said Mr Inglis would be missed by all who knew him.

Mr Inglis lived in neighbouring Adamson Court, but is thought to have been a regular visitor to Elders Court.

Previous reports suggested his body may had lain at the scene since Friday night but that has been disputed by local sources.

The family friend said: “He was found in the bit where the chute leads in to.

“There is no way a person could even fit in the chute itself.

“And he was not lying there all weekend. He was there for a day at most.”

Among those paying tribute to Mr Inglis online was Marcus Patton, who described his friend as “always a legend in my eyes”.

“Fly high buddy,” he added.

A force spokesman said: “There are no suspicious circumstances and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
