First picture of tragic cyclist Heather Stronach killed in horror Edinburgh lorry crash

Tributes have been paid to a cyclist who died in a horror collision with a lorry.

Tragic Heather Stronach, from Musselburgh, was killed at the scene on a busy Edinburgh road on Monday afternoon.

Paramedics battled to save the 36-year-old, who is believed to originally be from New Zealand, but her injuries were too severe.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Portobello High Street at around 2.45pm after Heather was hit by a large truck near a set of traffic lights.

A friend wrote: "This is so very sad. Thoughts go out to her family who will be devastated."

Another friend said: "Such a tragedy. She was a lovely young woman with her whole life ahead of her.

"Tragic, tragic accident."

It's understood Heather was married with no children.

Sergeant Mark Banner, from Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the deceased's family at this tragic time.

"We are asking for anyone who was in the area and saw the collision take place to place come forward.

If you have potential dashcam or CCTV footage in that area around 2.45pm, that could also greatly assist our enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1829 of 2 November.
