First picture of teenager accused of murdering young woman

This is the face of a 19-year-old accused of murdering a 20-year-old woman whose body was found in Liverpool.

Mohammed Diakite, aka Nigel Diakite, was brought before a court this morning accused of murdering N'Taya Elliott-Cleverley.

Diakite, of Prince Alfred Road, Wavertree, stood in the dock wearing a black hoodie and grey tracksuit bottoms as a French interpreter translated court proceedings.

Police say Ms Elliott-Cleverley's body was found at an address on Prince Alfred Road on Friday, January 29.

Diakite was charged on Saturday, January 30 and was remanded to appear at Sefton Magistrates' Court this morning.

He appeared before District Judge James Hatton while Angela Conlan prosecuted the case.

Diakite was represented by Joe Ely.

The 19-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address and no plea was taken.

This morning's case was adjourned and sent to Liverpool Crown Court, where a hearing will take place later this week.

Diakite was remanded into custody until his next appearance.
