First picture of teenage boy found dead after falling into river at country park

Police have identified a 16-year-old boy who died after falling into a river.

Saif Mohammed's body was recovered from the water at Pollok Country Park in Glasgow yesterday evening.

Police, fire and ambulance services attended after the alarm was raised shortly after 5pm.

Police Scotland says there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the boy's death.

It said in a statement:A Police Scotland statement released this afternoon confirmed: "A 16-year-old male youth has died following an incident in Pollok Park on Tuesday, 30 June, 2020.

Emergency services searched the area for the boy's body yesterday (DAILY RECORD)

"Around 5.10pm police received a report a person had fallen into water at Pollok Country Park 

"Emergency services attended and a 16-year-male was recovered from the water.  He can be named as Saif Mohammed.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Yesterday, eyewitness reported seeing a police helicopter in the vicinity while locals described seeing a rescue boat searching the river.
