First picture of Scottish couple who sadly died after nightmare road crash

An elderly couple who sadly died after a horror crash in the Borders have been named by police.

The incident took place on the A697 near Lauder at around 4.30 pm on, November 11, and the female driver of the blue Kia Sportage that smashed into the couple's car was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Tragically Adam Allan, 79, and Christine Allan, 85, from Kelso, were pronounced dead at the scene following the collision on Friday afternoon.

Mr. Allan was driving a red Kia Venga with Mrs. Allan in the front passenger seat when it was involved in the collision with a blue Kia Sportage.

The incident happened between Carfraemill and Greenlaw near Lauder. Following the crash, the road was closed for about seven hours while an investigation was carried out.

Sergeant Kosmas Papakyriakou said: "Our thoughts remain with Mr. and Mrs. Allan's family and friends at this very difficult time for them.

"Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I would urge anyone who may have information to contact us."
