First picture of Scots woman found dead in car as police probe 'unexplained' death

A woman who was discovered dead within a car in Glenrothes yesterday has been named locally as Jane Fitzpatrick.

Emergency services raced to Cable Road around 9am on Monday morning as a police cordon was quickly put in place.

Forensic officers could be seen scouring the area as the road, leading towards a caravan park, was closed.

The 49-year-old's death is currently being treated as "unexplained' by officers and a post mortem will be carried out to establish the circumstances of her death.

So far no arrests have been made in connection with the incident and police enquiries remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Enquiries are continuing into the unexplained death of a woman in Glenrothes.

"A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the circumstances of the death.

"No arrests have been made."
