First picture of Scot killed in horror crash as police launch probe

A man who died in a crash in Aberdeenshire has been formally identified.

John Grover sadly passed away after his silver Hyundai i40 car collided with a silver Ford Transit van on the A90 Aberdeen to Ellon Road's northbound carriageway, near Foveran.

The tragic incident took place at around 3.20pm on Thursday, December 16.

Emergency crews were called and John, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Transit van was uninjured.

The road was closed for around nine hours to allow a full collision investigation to take place.

Officers from North East Police Division offered their condolences to John's family.

Anyone with information on the incident, especially witnesses and those driving in the area at the time, are being urged to come forward.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Sergeant Chris Smith said: “The thoughts of everyone at Police Scotland are with John’s family and friends at this most difficult of times.

“Enquiries are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision and we are keen to speak to anyone who was driving at, or near, the location who has not already been spoken to by an officer.

“Anyone who can help our enquiries can call 101, quoting reference 2010 of December 16.”
