First picture of pedestrian killed by car while walking on M8 in Glasgow

Police have released a picture of the man who tragically died after being hit by a car whilst walking on the M8 .

Daniel McFarland, 41, was struck by a Vauxhall Astra while walking on the eastbound carriageway near to the slip from the M77 around 7.25pm on Wednesday, March 4.

Emergency crews raced to the scene but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 36-year-old driver involved in the crash was uninjured.

Sergeant Jon Mochan from Glasgow’s Road Policing Unit based at Helen Street said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Daniel at this difficult time.

“Our investigation into the crash is ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who saw this incident to contact us.

"Whether you saw a man walking along the carriageway or were on the road at the time and have dash-cam footage, you may have information that will assist our investigation.”
