First picture of OAP who died in horror three car crash on Scots road as woman fights for life

A pensioner who died in a horrific Scots road crash that left two dead and one seriously injured has been officially named.

Gary Patterson, 65, was one of two men to die in the collision between a black Volkswagen Sirocco, a blue BMW 4 series and a silver Vauxhall Mokka in Ayrshire on Thursday.

The Kilmarnock man has now been named as one of those who sadly lost their life in the incident around 4.40pm on the A713, near Patna.

The 35-year-old driver of the Sirocco also died while a 62-year-old woman who was also a passenger in a blue BMW is in critical condition at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Sergeant Ian Thornton, Road Policing Unit in Ayrshire, said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the men who died in the crash.

"Officers are continuing enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or observed the vehicles beforehand to please contact us as soon as possible.

"I'd also like to hear from motorists with dash-cams who were travelling on the A713 on Thursday afternoon as their footage could be of significance to our investigation.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 2664 of 22 July.”
