First picture of man missing since boat capsized in Loch Awe as family release emotional statement

The family of a man who has been missing since a boat capsized have released an emotional statement.

Kieran Cowan, from the East Lothian area, has been reported as missing since the incident at around 4.40pm on Saturday, August 17.

The 23-year-old was part of a trio of men whose boat capsized in Loch Awe, Argyll and Bute .

Two other men, aged 23 and 27, were able to swim to a nearby island and were both taken to by ambulance.

The pair have been discharged from hospital, while Kieran remains missing.

The family of the 23-year-old said: "Kieran always sees the good in a bad situation. He has a heart of gold and loves life. 

"He lights up the room with his infectious smile and his motto is: it is what it is."

Police Scotland's Dive and Marine Unit and members of the mountain rescue team are currently carrying out a search of the area for the man.

Staff from Police Scotland , Scottish Fire and Rescue, Scottish Ambulance and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency attended Loch Awe, Argyll, all rushed to the loch on the day the incident.

Police Scotland and Marine Accident Investigation Branch are also investigating further into the boat’s capsize.
