First picture of man, 21, who died while 'searching for missing dog' at lake

A man who tragically drowned while it is claimed he was looking for his missing dog has been pictured for the first time.

Car mechanic Cory Nicholson, 21, from Calne in Wiltshire, died on Tuesday at Cotswold Water Park near Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

His body was pulled from the water by an underwater search team seven hours after he went missing.

Eyewitnesses described seeing Cory 'struggling in the water and shouting for help'.

Emergency services including the National Police Air Service were called in during lunch hours to Lake 32 at around 1:40pm.

Cory's relatives described him as 'a huge family man' who loved spending time with them.

They said in a statement that Cory, who grew up in Marlborough in Swindon, enjoyed "big, wide adventures of many sorts".

Joanne Pendlebury, from Waterland Outdoor Pursuits which owns part of the lake, said the man 'was looking for his missing dog'.

Eyewitness Agnes Baron said two men - one aged in his 50s and the other in his 20s - jumped into the water and swam to his location 'around 50m from the bank'.

Rescuers spent the whole afternoon trying to find Cory and the police confirmed the man's body had been found at just before 9pm.

According to MailOnline , the park remained open and police asked the public to stay away from the lake while the incident was being attended up.

A spokesman for the Gloucestershire Police said: "He was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner and the man's next of kin have been informed."
