First picture of Gonzalo Higuain training as Chelsea player after January transfer

Gonzalo Higuain took part in Chelsea training for the first time on Thursday, having finalised his loan move from Juventus.

The 31-year-old, who will spend the remainder of the season at Stamford Bridge, under went a solo training session under the eye of fitness coach Paolo Bertelli.

Chelsea confirmed Higuain's arrival on Wednesday evening but the striker will have to wait until the weekend to make his debut after missing the midday deadline to register in time for the EFL Cup.

Tottenham visit Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening for the second leg of the London rivals' semi-final. Spurs lead 1-0 from the first leg.

Higuain last played on January 16 as parent club Juventus beat former loan club AC Milan in the Saudi Arabia-based Supercoppa Italiana final, making a 19-minute cameo.

The new signing could make his debut as Chelsea host Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday in the FA Cup fourth round. The Blues then travel to Bournemouth on Wednesday evening in the Premier League.
