Tribute paid to ‘purest’ woman stabbed to death in Wood Green alongside her father

Tributes have been paid to a “pure-hearted” woman stabbed to death alongside her father at their home in Wood Green.

Joanilason Assis, 61, and his 31-year-old daughter Fernanda Assis were found by paramedics suffering stab wounds at their flat in Mayes Road after neighbours raised concerns for their welfare.

The killing of Ms Assis has left former schoolfriends from Fortismere School in Muswell Hill in “complete shock.”

One friend, who also went to primary school with Ms Assis, told The Standard: “This has sent chills running straight through me.

“She had quite severe learning difficulties but was honestly the purest girl you could hope to meet.

“She would walk a rabbit on a lead with her mum on the way into primary school and wave at me and my mum.

“She was always spirited and always wore the brightest clothes to school.”

The London Ambulance Service pronounced both victims dead at the scene at 9.30am on November 28.

Achilleas Costa, 52, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire shortly after.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on February 18.
