First picture of dad who died after being hit by van in Fife as tributes paid to 'best friend'

Police have named a dad who died after being knocked down by a van in Rosyth.

Alan James Lauder, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene of the horror crash on the A823 near the M90, junction 2, in Fife.

Alan was struck by a white MAN box van at around 1.30am on Friday, November 5.

His friends and family have been left devastated following the horror incident.

Tributes have flooded in for Alan, from Rosyth, who has been hailed as a "best friend".

Alex Ingram led the tributes in a heartbreaking post on social media.

He said: "RIP Alan Lauder. I've lost my best friend today. Love you brother. Thank you for so many laughs and life experiences with you.

"Thoughts and prayers go out to Jen... Your son's... Your brother.

"God bless you Alan you will always be with me my friend."

Heartbroken Deirdre Byers said: "I can’t believe that you have left us Alan I’m gonna miss you more than you will ever ever know ..R.I.P. sweetheart."

Mandy Wilson said: "R.I.P Alan Lauder. My thoughts are with your boys and family, will miss you xx"

Lawrence Ingy Ingram said: "RIP Alan Lauder very sad news. Always had a blether with him when I met him in the bus station."

James Young added: "Wow....sad, sad news. R.I.P Alan."

The van driver was uninjured following the incident and police are continuing to appeal for information.

Sergeant Colin Morrison, from Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts continue to be with Mr Lauder’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“I’d ask anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dash cam footage of either the van or Mr Lauder before the collision happened, to provide any relevant information to officers at the earliest opportunity.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 0154 of November 5, 2021.
