The first picture has emerged of a 15-year-old boy who drowned in a canal just months after his mum passed away.
The family friend of Caden Taylor - who died in a canal in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, on Tuesday - described him as "bubbly" and "very popular".
They have set up a crowdfunding page to help pay for funeral costs in an effort to "take the pressure off" so soon after the grieving family's previous loss, reports YorkshireLive.
On Tuesday evening, police were called to Stocking Lane, Knottingley, at 5.28pm to reports of a concern for the safety of a male seen in the water.
A huge emergency response ensued, with Yorkshire Air Ambulance and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service in attendance but, sadly, the teen's body was later recovered from the water.
West Yorkshire Police has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing while urging anyone with information to come forward.
Speaking today, the pal said: "Caden was a bubbly teenager, he was very popular and had lots of friends.
"It’s heartbreaking for his family, it’s devastating and such a tragedy."
£3,000 has already been raised among Caden's local community.
It asks people to donate towards funeral costs, and notes that the family had already been through so much after recently losing their "beautiful mum Racheal".
The friend said: "We want to take the pressure off the family and raise as much money as possible.
"The response so far has been phenomenal. In just a few hours we’ve raised £1,445."
A number of community raffles have also been organised to raise money, while Kellingley Welfare Football Club has set-up a football scratch card competition to help raise further funds.
"It’s an absolute tragedy that’s really impacted the town," the friend added.
