Friends and family have called a a 14-year-old boy a "beautiful angel" as tributes pour in for the youngster who was killed in an incident at Glasgow’s High Street station.
A police investigation is now underway following Justin Mclaughlin's death at the station on Saturday afternoon, reported the Daily Record.
Emergency services raced to the scene around 3.45pm where the 14-year-old had sustained serious injured.
He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police described the death as a “shocking loss” and have launched a criminal investigation into the incident and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
One family member paid tribute on Facebook writing: “Fly high Justin Mclaughlin. Miss you so much man the world is so evil and it’s so sad what’s happened to you.
“You were too young to die, you still had a life ahead of you and plans.
“We are all going to miss you so much, there’s not going to be a single day that we will forget about you.”
She added: “I cant believe I am writing this I’m so shocked and I didn’t know it was true until I clicked on Facebook, sleep tight angle G.B.N.F rest easy.”
Another said: “Fly high my beautiful angel! We had so many amazing memories when we were younger. How cruel can people be to take someone else’s life away! I love you. Justin McLaughlin. My beautiful little cousin taken far far too soon!!”
Scotrail have confirmed the station will remain closed while police carry out investigations.
Detective Inspector Iain Nelson of Greater Glasgow Division said: “This has been a shocking loss of a young life and a significant investigation is underway.
“Specialist officers are supporting the boy’s family at this incredibly difficult time. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can help is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.
“Those who were in the area at the time, or have information which may be relevant, can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2280 of Saturday, 16 October.
“Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
