This is the first photo of tragic tot Santina Cauley who died in Cork city during the early hours of Friday morning.
Gardai are investigating after little Santina, 2, was found in a critical condition at apartment on the south side of Cork city at around 5am on Friday.
She was taken to hospital from an apartment in the Elderwood complex on Boreenmanna Road, she was later pronounced dead.
Following the completion of her post mortem by Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Margot Bolster, gardai have now launched a murder investigation.
Tributes have since poured in for the little girl, with one saying: "RIP you little angel, a cruel world.
"May God give you the best bed in heaven."
"My heart is broken in two, I can't believe what has happened to you. I am so sorry, I mean it from my heart and soul.
"God bless her and I'd like to say my condolences for her."
Another added: "I'm so upset over the baby it's so sad, a little baby that could not fight back."
Local councillor Deirdre Forde said the tragedy had touched “the hearts of everybody” as they tried to come to terms with the tot’s death.
Neighbours had reported a disturbance and one theory being pursued is she may have sustained her injuries during the course of a domestic dispute.
One neighbour told the Irish Mirror there was a commotion hours earlier.
