First of Broadmarsh Centre's distinctive sails removed as redevelopment continues

Another step has been taken in the Broadmarsh centre redevelopment, with a distinctive sail being removed from one of the entrances.

Shoppers and visitors in Nottingham may notice the change at the intu Broadmarsh centre entrance on Collin Street, where the sail was taken down on Monday, July 15.

The £86 million regeneration project at the shopping centre is due to be completed in 2021 and as part of that, there will be changes to the buildings façade.

The centre is due to undergo work which will add glass frontages although this may not be visible until near the end of the project.

Collin Street has also been earmarked for improvements, with Nottingham City Council wanting to see the busy road pedestrianised.

A spokesman for intu Broadmarsh said: "Our exciting regeneration works are progressing well and on Sunday evening we removed the first of our iconic sails at intu Broadmarsh.

"We’re really looking forward to everybody seeing the new façade start to take shape."
