First Mourinho... Guardiola next! Solskjaer fires Man City warning after Manchester United outclass Tottenham

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has set his sights on another major scalp when Manchester United take on Pep Guardiola’s champions on Saturday.

After watching his under-pressure side produce one of their best performances of the season to hand Jose Mourinho his first defeat as Tottenham manager, the Norwegian immediately turned his attention to the Manchester derby.

A 2-1 win eased the scrutiny on Solskjaer’s position after such a troubled start to the campaign, moving United up to sixth in the Premier League.

But he knows they must build on such a positive result – starting with City.

“It’s one of the best (performances),” he said. “We’ve had spells versus Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester, but the first 40 minutes were excellent.

“They trusted themselves and deserved to win.

“There are many reasons for how a game goes, but we’ve had players enjoying themselves tonight, taking people on.

“Sometimes it feels like we haven’t been good enough breaking teams down. But today was 50-50 we had most of the ball, some of the build-up play was excellent.

“There is no better game than the next one, a fantastic City team, a derby, so the boys will be up for that one.

“City have 24 hours extra to recover and I’m happy I’ve got a young team - we’ll be ready for Saturday.”
