A Swiftie was left frustrated after receiving an empty box in the mail instead of her four variants of Taylor Swift’s newest release.
In a video with more than 246,000 views, Amanda Curtis (@amandaxcurtis13) explained the situation: “I ordered four Taylor Swift signed CD variants… Let me open it… and it’s completely empty.”
So what happened to her CDs? Did someone take them, or were they never there to begin with?
USPS, DHL or Swift’s merch team—who’s to blame?
Many commenters offered theories about why Curtis received an empty box instead of her collector’s items.
According to one TikToker, many signed variants went missing after reaching a Kentucky-based DHL processing center.
One commenter wrote, “Message her store team and the shipping company… let me guess DHL [through] Kentucky, right?”
Curtis confirmed in a reply that her shipment went through the Kentucky center.
“I feel a MAJOR lawsuit on the horizon,” said one Swiftie.
Taylor Swift fans investigate the issue
Members of Taylor’s Vault, a Facebook group for Swift fans, noticed missing packages as soon as shipments failed to arrive. Some members speculated that the problem could be the “flimsy” boxes the merchandise came in, which were apparently easy to open.
Other fans suggested a more troubling possibility: scalpers. Some purchased the $19.99 CDs at face value and quickly listed them on eBay for $75–$100 each. With four different signed variants sold on Sept. 28, some resellers initially priced complete sets at over $400. Prices have since dropped, but still exceed $200.

Community members argued that the lost collector’s items should be reported as stolen. Jodie Hawk Walker, one such member, posted: “Any items stolen from USPS shipments are a FEDERAL CRIME. Contact Kentucky House of Representatives and Senators and DEMAND to have an investigation. There are too many reports of this being centrally located in KY. [The] FBI could get involved.”
In a response to the Mary Sue, DHL representative Andrea Scarpulla stated, “At DHL, we are currently investigating the case of signed CDs that were reported missing upon delivery. We are working closely with the shipper to resolve this issue. In the course of the investigation, we have ascertained that packaging failures affected a select number of orders which may have contributed to the problem.”
The Mary Sue has also reached out to UMG for more information. We sent a TikTok direct message to Curtis.
