First Minister warns she is considering putting West Lothian into lockdown tomorrow with Level Four grading

Nicola Sturgeon has warned the Scottish Government are “looking at” putting West Lothian into Level 4 lockdown tomorrow.

The county was not one of the councils she outlined as likely to enter Level Four this Friday but she said West Lothian is still under consideration.

Speaking today the First Mininster named seven councils that were likely to be put in Level Four, with restrictions similar to the lockdown restrictions from earlier in the year.

They are Glasgow, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire  and West Dunbartonshire.

However, she went onto say that there are “some other councils ... Ayrshire for example, West Lothian” that “we’re looking at,” but are perhaps “not as clear cut.”

The First Minister will decide which councils enter into lockdown tomorrow morning and an announcement will be made at her briefing in the afternoon.

The latest Public Health Scotland data shows that as of November 15 there were 41 new positive Covid-19 cases in West Lothian, 290 over the past seven days and 2892 since records began.

West Lothian has had 158 cases per 100,000 people over the past seven days, compared the national average of 141.

However, Glasgow has 275, South Lanarkshire 229, North Lanarkshire 237 and Renfrewshire has 241 per 100,000 of the population.
