First Minister shows full support of proposed Charlotte's Law

The families of Lisa Dorrian and Charlotte Murray met with First Minister Arlene Foster today to seek support for their campaign to change legislation in Northern Ireland.

The proposed Charlotte's Law would mean that convicted murderers would not be eligible for parole until they revealed the location of their victim's body.

Both Charlotte and Lisa were murdered and their bodies hidden by their killers. Following PSNI investigations, their bodies remain hidden.

Speaking today, Charlotte's sister Sinead Corrigan said: "We are in the situation where we have justice for Charlotte, her killer received a 16 year sentence in January 2020 but he has yet to tell us where he has hidden Charlotte's body.

"Our campaign focuses on ensuring he will not be released from prison until he tells us where Charlotte is."

Lisa Dorrian's father John was grateful to receive the support from the First Minister today.

He said: "Lisa has not been found despite massive searches over 15 years, so we are joining forces with the Murray family to change current legislation so we can future-proof Lisa's killers conviction to ensure we get her back."

Both families have said they are in 'eternal limbo' while their loved one's bodies remain missing.

Charlotte's sister Denise Murray added: "We are very grateful for the public support for Charlotte's Law and we hope to have all party support when this comes to vote in the Assembly."

The petition to support Charlottes Law can be found here.
