First Minister coming to Paisley today for book festival event

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will be in town today as Paisley Book Festival comes to a close.

The SNP politician - and book lover - is the guest host of the What Maks a Makar event this afternoon.

She will be in conversation with Scots Makar Kathleen Jamie, who will discuss her career to date and share some insights from her first six months in the role of Makar.

Robyn Marsack, former director of the Scottish Poetry Library, will also be involved in the discussion.

Ms Sturgeon said: “The Paisley Book Festival is a great opportunity to highlight the work of some of the fantastic writers who live here in Scotland and it provides an excellent opportunity to uncover some new and exciting authors.”

What Maks a Makar is at 4pm today in the UWS Student Union.
