First Minister announces when hairdressers, beer gardens and nurseries could reopen

Nicola Sturgeon has revealed when certain sectors could reopen for business.

The First Minister has provided indicative dates for when a number of business places and services can resume.

It comes after plans were revealed yesterday for children to return to school full-time in August if the virus is further supressed.

The reopening of the sectors remains dependent upon the number of infections continuing to decline.

Key dates

July 3: Scots can travel further than five miles for recreation;

July 3: self-contained holiday accommodation – for example holiday cottages and lodges, or caravans can open;

July 6: Beer gardens can reopen;

July 13: Non-essential shops in shopping centres can reopen;

July 15: People can meet indoors with one other household;

July 15: Childcare facilities, such as nurseries, can reopen;

July 15: Hairdressers can reopen;

July 15: All holiday accommodation reopens, with restrictions in place;

July 15: Indoor hospitality reopens – such as pubs. But hospitality businesses will be required to take customers’ details;

July 15: Museums, galleries and cinemas can reopen with reduced capacities.

The First Minister will offer updates ahead of each date.
