"I don't know what space exploration will uncover, but I don't think it'll be exploration just for the sake of exploration," Ryan Gosling's Neil Armstrong explains in an exclusive clip from Damien Chazelle's First Man.
"I think it'll be more the fact that it allows us to see things that maybe we should have seen a long time ago, but just haven't been able to until now."
Chazelle, behind last year's Oscar-nominated (and momentarily winning) film La La Land, returns with the story of Armstrong's tumultuous journey into space on the Apollo 11 space flight.
Gosling's performance has already received mass critical acclaim, alongside praise for The Crown's Claire Foy, who stars as Armstrong's wife Janet Shearon.
The film has already earned rave reviews at both Venice and Toronto's film festivals, with The Independent's David Lister writing: "In a film that has the Moon landing and multiple rocket launches, he resists the obvious temptation to rely on technical wizardry. This is a human story, remarkably well told."
First Man also stars Corey Stoll, Kyle Chandler and Pablo Schreiber and will be released in the UK on 12 October.
