First Love Island couples revealed as winter series kicks off in South Africa

The winter edition of Love Island of Love Island is finally here - and the first set of couples has been revealed.

The Islanders arrived in the luxurious new villa in Cape Town, South Africa, where new host Laura Whitmore introduced the female contestants to their prospective love interests.

The women were given the option to step forward in order to show their interest when a new male contestant entered the villa.

Builder Nas had a tough time of it as the first man to present himself, as none of the female Islanders stepped forward, with many admitting that they were hedging their bets and waiting to meet the other boys.

He eventually decided to couple up with beauty consultant Siannise - who then immediately stepped forward for scaffolder Callum. However, he opted to pair up with democratic services officer Shaughna.

Self-styled aristocrat Ollie was awkwardly left hanging when none of the islanders showed an interest in him. He eventually coupled up with Paige, who is the ex-girlfriend of musician Lewis Capaldi.

The singer, who hails from West Lothian, didn’t seem to impressed by her new partner and later admitted that she had already put him in the “friend zone.”

Coffee bean salesman Connor chose to partner with Sophie, who is the sister of former Saturdays star Rochelle Humes.
